For nearly sixteen years until 2014, the Vedanta-Gesellschaft has operated with the goal of establishing a permanent centre to fulfill the objectives of its charter in a better way. The spiritual guidance is recieved from the resident monks of the Ramakrishna-Order. During this period, careful consideration was given to evaluate the following:
- The needs of people in this part of the globe and how they might be met within the scope of the local cultural tradition,
- Building up a core group of local volunteers to support this effort, and
- Finding a suitable location in Germany for a permanent centre for easy access for the youth.
As we are committed to building up an institution which will outlive all of us by far, these considerations have been made slowly and patiently, for a period of not less than sixteen years. As a result, we decided that the time was right for the construction of a permanent centre where the Gesellschaft could conduct activities for participation of the general public, and that its location would be in Berlin.
Location
For the construction of a permanent centre, the Society has acquired a plot of land in Berlin-Marienfelde, located at Marienfelder Allee 73. This location is ideally connected to the rest of Berlin via U-Bahn, S-Bahn and Bus. As a mixed residential and commercial use area, this location also allows flexibility in conducting public events. The architects haus.architekten of Berlin have been engaged for the project.

Plans for the construction project were approved by the authorities of Schöneberg-Tempelhof district. Work on the detailed implementation plans were done and the work began in July 2021.
Phase I
Planning and Construction
Although we have made a Master Plan for the whole Ashrama with two buildings (the main house and the guest house), due mainly to financial constraints we could not realize the whole project until now. We took up construction of the first planned building which is a main house with spaces for seminars and public events, as well as accommodation for monastics and some guests.

Main House
The main house includes two levels, plus cellar and loft. Public activities such as seminars and worship will be conducted on the ground floor of this building.

Phase II
Guest House
A guesthouse with additional guest accommodation is planned, and may be built at a later date subject to funding. The estimated cost is about: €8,63,650.
